Today Category 6 Racing squad pulled off a mediocre finish in the State Championship
Crit. The squad had 4 riders in the category 4/5 race and one rider in the Category 3 race.

The 3's

Derrick "Fullrich" Lewis proved that his victory at this same race last year was indeed a
fluke.  He started the race in true Cat 6 style.  In Back.

Race Reports
Whew, good thing that's over >
Cat 6 Proves It's Name
30 feet from 4th place..........
...And fourth place
Derrick stayed there for most of the race until with only 3 laps to go there was a crash.
With only 3 laps to go there were no possibilties of a free lap.  So he and quite a few
others had to chase back up to the main field where he was then demolished in the sprint.
Ironically the tattoo says "rubber side down" in Chinese.

The 4/5's

The main Cat 6 race took place without a hitch.  Well, unless you count getting dropped a
hitch.  Then we indeed had some hitches.
Above we can see the team meeting to go over tactics.  The Plan was as follows: 3 of the 4
Cat 6 riders were to line up at the font for the start.  As the whistle blew it was their job to
all fumble trying to clip in and maybe even hit the deck right away.  Amidst the
pandimonium the 4th rider would zoom off on an early breakaway.  Being that we didn't
have a rider that could hold a break away like that we weren't sure what to do next.  It was
a good plan anyway.

Some of our riders started off near the front.
Here's Cap'n John coming
through the straight section.

Little D started off strong and got pulled with a few laps to go.

Tyler held in there until the end.  Narrowly escaping the bad offical with the whistle.
This
picture was taken to show the huge gap he had between him and the field.

And
Here he is complaining to the officials because there are still 3 laps to go.

Jason Wenk Joined the team about 5 minutes before the race started.  Good thing,
because Jason was the only one in a Cat 6 jersey to take home any cash.  Jason came in
4th in the field sprint of the 4/5's.  And due to one competitor having the misfortune of
taking residence in Wisconsin, Jason is actually the 3rd best criterium rider in the state.
Congrats Jason.  You obviously have not had any of that Cat 6 training that has taken the
promise out of the rest of us.
